An auto-loader machine for the placement of ceramic capacitors on silicone plates, for a leading electronic components manufacturer

The Need:

A machine that can simultaneously insert 7370 ceramic capacitors (smaller than 1 mm3) into a silicone plate as part of a critical stage, consisting of the immersion of one of the capacitor’s facets in a special coating.

Manufacturing Process before Development of the Machine:

Manual placement of the capacitors on a vibrating plate, serial inputting of multiple capacitor plates under a press, manual operation of the press, manual accumulation on racks, and manual insertion of the plates into the coating process.

This solution had caused considerable burnout and health hazards to the workers, resulting in shorter work shifts and excessive turnover. In addition, the quality and reliability has varied, depending on worker’s skills and shift lengths. The end result has been poor throughput, excessive customer complaints and high production costs.

The Conventional Solution:

A combination of a number of pick & place robots as is customary in component placement on electronic boards. This solution is expensive, slow, cumbersome, and consumes of excessive energy.

 Agami Automation’s Unique Solution:

We have developed a machine at the core of which is a special spatial vector vibrational system, vibrating the capacitors with a completely digitally controlled vibration pattern. This is automatically performed without human intervention.

The required vibration pattern has been studied in the course of profound physical analysis and has been specifically adapted to the different types of capacitors.

This machine has improved the yield and reliability and has dramatically reduced costs. It has been successfully replicated and deployed in our customers’ production lines, in combination with additional machines developed and supplied to the customers for the termination lines in order to improve quality and raise throughput.
